Q. Will the James Cutter cut both Kangaroo "Roo" and rawhide?
A. Yes. This leather cutter works very well on most species of hides.
Q. Will the James Splitter cut both "Roo" and rawhide?
A. Our leather splitter was specifically designed for all "Roo" hides and for rawhide up to about 1-1/2 inches wide by 1/4 inch thick (and pre-moistened). For very heavy hide "skiving" such as is used to make thick, wide heavy pieces for saddles, we recommend a skiver tool.
Q. Are the razor blades and "stripper" blades really stiff enough to cut "Roo" and rawhide?
A. Yes. We have had excellent results for many years. Our goal was to provide the user with cutting blades that are always super sharp, blades that were very inexpensive, and available nearly everywhere. They produce results for braiding leather tack like you see on this website.

Q. Where can I buy extra blades?
A. We stock them. In addition, the injector style razor blades are normally found at local stores which sell shaving supplies. The four inch "scraper" blades and the heavy duty "stripper" blades are often sold in local hardware stores and places like Home Depot or other building supply outlets (usually in the paint or flooring department).
Q. Do You Sell Pre-cut Strings (laces)?
A. Yes. We offer precision "hand cut" Roo and rawhide laces in various colors and thickness. These are far more consistent in quality and size than the type that are simply cut by a machine.
